Lucy Lagrone-Long
was born in Cameron, Texas but moved
to Boise, Idaho when she was two. She graduated from Borah High
School in Boise and began college at the University of Texas, El
Paso, Texas. She finished her BS in Nursing at the University of
Florida. She has worked as a Registered Nurse in Pediatric Intensive
Care at Shands Hospital (Gainesville, Florida). She also worked in
Pediatric Intensive Care at Cook-Fort Worth Children's Hospital
(Fort Worth, Texas). While in Plainview, Texas she worked in the
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Saint Mary's Hospital (Lubbock,
Texas) and Plains Regional Hospital (Plainview, Texas).
Lucy also worked with Hospice of the
Plains (Plainview, Texas) as a Home Health Care Supervisor for a
couple of years.
She moved to Florida and worked in the
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Florida Hospital (Orlando, Florida)
as an Assistant Nurse Manager. She finished twenty-seven years as a
Registered Nurse working in the Intensive Care Units of Ocala
Regional Medical Center and Munroe Regional Hospital (Ocala,
Florida). Since nurses never "retire" she still ministers to others
by answering questions and helping people understand their
healthcare process.
John Long
was born in Jacksonville, Florida but
he too moved as a child. He spent some time in Macon, Georgia and
eventually graduated from Gainesville High School (Gainesville,
Florida). After high school he was a truck driver for Florida Food
Service (Gainesville, Florida) before serving three years in the
United States Army. In the Army he was stationed at Fort Knox,
Kentucky; Fort Bliss, Texas; and US Naval Station, Key West,
Florida. In the Army, John was the Assembly and Service Section
Chief for a HAWK Surface to Air Missile site. He attained the rank
of sergeant before leaving the Army in 1975.
Following service in the Army, John
worked at the John R. Kelley Generating Station (Electric Power) in
Gainesville, Florida. He also joined his father and brother in
running the family farm (near LaCrosse, Florida). John graduated
from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in
Broadcasting. He worked at the radio and television stations at the
University of Florida. He received a Master of Arts in Religious
Education from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort
Worth, Texas and a Doctor of Educational Ministries Degree from the
New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (New Orleans, Louisiana).
John served as a Minister of Education for over twenty-six years in
churches in Texas (Connell Baptist Church, Fort Worth, Texas and
College Heights Baptist Church, Plainview, Texas) and Florida
(Orange Heights Baptist Church, Orange Heights, Florida; First
Baptist Church Pine Castle, Orlando, Florida; Bay Street Baptist
Church, Eustis, Florida and First Baptist Church, Belleview,
Florida).
Megan Melissa Long
Joined the Long Family in the
cherished position of daughter in May 1986.
Megan graduated from the University of Florida
in 2007 with a Bachelors Degree in Public
Relations. She current works as a Unit Clerk in
the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Shands
Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. She is the
Children’s Worship Ministry Director at First
Baptist Church in Belleview, Florida. She is
also the Worship Leader there on Sunday
evenings.
